Why would an interviewer remember you and like you more than the other similar candidates?

What’s your unique point of difference, what makes you special or interesting?

In Episode 20 I interview Jonathan Goring who strikes me as special guest, very interesting and quite different from many other senior business leaders I interview.

Jonathan describes himself as a maverick and he also looks for the human, personal and unusual elements of others.

He has had a highly successful career which has seen him lead a 4,500 person business in the form of Capita Simmonds, acquire 26 businesses, win the largest ever UK property deal and work at Partner Level at PA Consulting.

But its not all corporate career building for Jonathan he has found time to team up with Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful British sailor of his generation, and four-time Olympic gold medallist on his Americas Cup team Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR)

As the man in charge of the project Jonathan married a past life as a former professional sailor with his construction, project management and commercial skills to turn an Americas Cup dream into reality.

Jonathan outlines his career and his outlook on life. He also explains how job seekers can and should stand out from the crowd at interview using their own uniqueness.
